Flushed and honeymooning? Sighing and holding grudges? These six simple questions will expose the underpinnings of one of the most important relationships in your life – the one you have with your job. Haven't you ever asked yourself, Really, how hot is it?

Out of the blue, you receive a competitive offer from another company. What's your reaction?

Excitement: You’re always up for a change. You start composing your “it’s not you, it’s me” e-mail to your boss and make arrangements to pick up your last cheque.

Relief: It’s good to know your skills are in demand – especially since (you suspect) you haven’t done much to impress anyone lately.

Hesitation: It’s great to be wanted, but the sight of your name on your business card still gives you a charge.

Refusal: You’ve got a fantastic team right now, and you’re working on an exciting project.

Conflict: You’re tempted, but you’re pretty happy with everything, and it’s too risky to cash in all your chips right now.
