Alison McLaughlin writes in February about the economics of luxury, a peer inside the Blo Blow Dry Bar. In her piece, the implicit question is: In a tumbling economy, can you rely on women (and some men, or "blo bros," as they're known) to spend 30 bucks on a blow dry?

Lisa Nguyen went down to Blo's new downtown location to check for herself. She took a headful of matted locks, a microphone, and cameraman Joel Bentley on her mission to find out if hair is truly recession-proof.

Cute hair! I think it is all about people choosing what is important to them. Some would never spend $30 on a blow dry, instead opting for a nice bottle of wine or a day of skiing (well, more like a half day). We all have the option to pick what we'd like to scrimp or splurge on.
