My mom, Peg Campbell, who passed away a couple of years ago, was a big hero in my life. My dad died when I was 13, and she and I were very close. One thing she told me shortly after he passed away has stuck with me: “We live in a place where you can do just about anything you want, but no one’s going to give it to you. You have to work until you finish the job.” It’s the best advice I can think of. An awful lot gets accomplished with hard work. And as some other very wise person once said, the harder you work, the luckier you get.
