At Summerland & District Credit Union, a day at the office is like spending time with family.

Number of employees: 39
Head office: Summerland
Quote: “There is a sense of family and belonging that I have not experienced anywhere else. The top management really cares about staff”

If my company were a  celebrity, it would be: DOLLY PARTON
“She remembers she came from a small town and is always there for them”

When a rock slide cuts off the main route to work for a handful of employees for a week, the average employer might expect you to pack a bag, take a logging road around the slide and bunk with a friend or relative for the duration. But at Summerland & District Credit Union, no one was asked to navigate the treacherous logging roads and spend time away from family. Staff who weren’t affected by the slide volunteered to put in extra hours to cover for their colleagues, and no one was docked a day’s pay.

While many Summerland employees praise the company’s bonus plan and generous benefits, that kind of commitment to employees fosters a loyalty that just can’t be bought. Add a commitment to community involvement that’s the cornerstone of the credit union’s values, and a day at the office is like spending time with family.
