A: I just arrived, but it seems like it’s getting busy.

A: In Gastown, you don’t see the Olympics. Only downtown is it built up. Every day it’ll be more exciting.

A: We booked one year in advance, so it’s not as expensive. Good thing we did.

A: The chance to see the Olympics in Canada was one we had to take.

A: Oh, tons. The opening ceremony, short track speed skating, figure skating, women’s hockey, curling, moguls.

A: We’re doing a lot of sightseeing downtown.
Q: How is the atmosphere in Vancouver?
A: It’s a beautiful place. The people here are incredibly friendly.

A: Well, the hotel is $300 per night, for five nights: probably about $3,000 or $4,000 for all of us.

A: We’re trying to get tickets – to anything.

A: It’s positive. It’s patriotic.

A: It depends if we can catch an event. We’ll spend about $500 if not, but probably at least $1,000 if we do.

A: It’s a once in a lifetime thing, being that we live so close. Well, relatively speaking we live close.

A: The luge, the freestyle skiing, long track ladies speed skating. As many as we can afford to go to! Our events were selected by a lottery.

A: We just went around on the SkyTrain, now we’re checking out downtown.
Q: How is the atmosphere in Vancouver?
A: There are really nice people here! They all want to tell us about what to do here. I have so much information; I think I’ll forget it all.

A: I really don’t know how much I plan to spend, but I have a very good credit card!

A: I’m here to work for the RCMP at the main media centre.

A: I get one and a half days off after four days of work. Hopefully I’ll get some tickets to something.

A: I’m staying on one of the boats, a cruise ship. It’s cramped.

A: People here are super friendly. I’m stoked about how friendly they are. Even though it’s rainy, people still seem to be happy. They love the outdoors. I see people running in the morning, in the afternoon!
