What's Twittering Done for You?

“I’m a Twitter slacker. Bottom line for me is Twitter requires a real time investment, and I haven’t made that commitment yet. I find Facebook to be a useful reporting tool for anything going on about teenagers or young adults; often they have an open profile so you can learn a lot of information about them. What I find really bothersome about Twitter is that it is very difficult to search people and look people up.”

Tweets up to 30 minutes a day

“Five months ago, there were fewer than 10 journalists in Vancouver using Twitter, but there’s been a massive change. Twitter helps me reach them, and it’s incredibly valuable in connecting with customers and potential customers, and following industry leaders. I was at one point in the top 10 Twitterers in Vancouver, graded by a service that gives a ranking number and influence.”

Freelance writer
Tweets up to an hour a day

“When I decided to freelance, a friend suggested I could build an entire business using Twitter. I just love it. After a calculated look, I found myself following writers, people I want to emulate and potential clients. Twitter is old-school business in a digital format. Twitter is also a great research tool: you can follow what people are saying about products and services. You can also follow what people are saying about you, so it’s good for reputation management.”

Cathy's lame comments about Twitter and Face Book is a shining example of how out of touch and irrelevant most of the staff at BOTH papers are. Hats off to CanWest for allowing up to get our provincial news feed from the bottom of the barrel. Thank god for the internet Catherine, so the people of this province don't have to rely on tired hacks with nothing left to say for their information. I wonder what The Guardian is tweeting.....
