“There are amazing advancement opportunities, and so many people make tons of money, which is great at a company full of 20-somethings”

Its red-and-white storefronts are ubiquitous throughout the Lower Mainland, yet unlike most retailers in this tight labour market, Flight Centre has had good luck at retaining top staff. But it’s not just luck: Flight Centre works hard at developing an attractive benefits package, which includes internal financial and wellness consultants paid for by the company, along with paid-for conference travel and rewards. Flight Centre also holds a monthly social event (“buzz night”) where top teams and achievers are recognized, as well as an annual black-tie ball. Click here to look at the next winner

Michael, If it is not too late, I know of a company that will eat your loss and arrange you dream wedding anniversary in the islands. Post here if you are interested.
Michael, While I understand your fustration it is not the people at flight centre's fault. This is a standard of all tour operators (I have learned to read the terms and conditions before booking anything). If you do not have insurance to cover situations like this you almost always lose the depoist.
I would like to complain / vent about the travel agencies during these economic times. How can travel companies (in this case Flight Centre & Sunquest) just not feel the passion or be considerate during turmoil? All we wanted to do was keep the $500 deposit towards another trip (to be used within 2009). Disgusting!!!! My wife and I are avid travelers. Vacationing at least twice a year for the last 4½ yrs. We have booked through Flight Centre and used Sunquest for our past few Caribbean holidays. On OCT 20, 2008 we put down a $500 deposit towards the RIU Palace in Cabo San Lucas, to hold a reservation for a week in Feb 2009 for a return trip to RIU Palace in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Because of the time of year (Valentines) and the fact there are limited flights, we decided this was the sure way to be where we wanted. It is our wedding anniversary on Feb 15th. The balance of the trip was to be paid by December 24, 2008. Mid November, I lost my work with YellowPages Group due to economy cutbacks. We went into our travel agent in Flight Centre who proceeded to inform us that there was no way we could get our deposit back as Sunquest would not allow it, and nothing more could be done. We even opted to have the deposit held in trust, so that when he is working again - we could re apply it to another Sunquest destination. There was no way that we could afford to pay the remainder of the original trip, have Christmas AND pay our bills all at once. Unfortunately, no one at Flight Centre OR Sunquest was willing to accommodate us - even though the "scheduled vacation" was more than 60+ days away. Calling the reps at Sunquest did not get us anywhere either - stating to us that it was our bad luck. I was a retail manager for over 7yrs, and I would never treat a customer like that. There is always another viable solution. Sadly, I feel this was not in the best interest of customers, and we are quite reluctant to use Sunquest and Flight Centre in the future. Regards, Michael Oshust
