Authenticity in Social Media

In this video, David Allison explains how social media are upending communications, marketing, and corporate authenticity.

Recently I was interviewed for a documentary about social media. While the cameras were rolling and I waved around an empty espresso cup, I managed to blurt out a few smartish things.

My point is that social media are forcing marketers to rethink the role and content of other media, and that we still have a long way to go when it comes to using social tools in an authentic and engaging way.

So, this week, instead of reading a post penned by yours truly, you can sit back and watch me avoid eye-contact with the camera while I am trying to figure out what to say. Enjoy.

Love the line - people using Twitter like a radio station. Well articulated POV, for all media. The great brands are those making any media sociable, not just the tools of social media. No medium lives in a silo, the role all mediums is changing. In good ways.
